How to Draw A Dog Face
Step 1
In step 1 of our guide to drawing a dog’s face, we’ll start by outlining the face.
To draw it, you have a curved line for the top of the snout and two curved lines that form the dog’s snout.
Once you look at the example in our reference image, you’re ready for step 2!
Step 2
Now that you’ve outlined the face let’s add more.
For this step, you can draw a floor for the mouth of your dog’s face design, and this should be easy enough as you only need to draw a curved line under the muzzle as it appears in the picture.
Our dog will have large floppy ears; as you can see in the reference image, they start near the top of the head.
They extend down, and you could make them a bit longer and slacker!
Step 4
In this step, we will draw some eyes for your dog face design. Our design for the eyes comprises some ovals within ovals to give them big eyes.
Next, draw small circles inside the inner ovals to create a glimmer in the eye. Finally, draw lines below and above the face for extra wrinkled detail.
Depending on your dog’s appearance, you can even change the eye design to simpler, more significant, or smaller!
Step 5
Your dog face drawing is already fabulous! We’ll add some final details to bring everything together in the next few steps.
This step’s main feature is giving your dog a big nose! To do this, you can draw an oval shape under the eyes.
Once you have a nose you’re happy with, and you can draw a few extra lines to add more detail to the face. These can go to the upper face and lower mouth.
Step 6
The detail we added is a line running down from the nose, forming your dog’s muzzle.
Finally, we drew three dots on each cheek of the face to create a mustache.
We’d love to add those details, but you can add additional items!
Step 7
Dogs can come in different colors across their many different breeds. To finish your drawing, you must decide what color you want this cute dog to be!
We used a brown color scheme for our example, but you should get creative for this step.
If you have drawn a background or other elements for your drawing, you can also color them in.
You could color this dog to look like a dog you’ve owned!
Many options are available to you, and each brings its unique element to your design.
Paints like acrylics give you’re drawing a beautifully bright and vibrant intensity of color, while watercolors can give your drawing a softer, more muted tone.
You also have options like crayons, crayons, and pencils, so it’s up to you to experiment and find the perfect look for your fantastic drawing!
